About Me
My name is Walt Shandley, I live in Holland , Texas and have attended Holland ISD since day care. I am strongly considering becoming a pilot. People tell me I am good at science, math and English (reading and writing). School is pretty easy for me, working for my Pawpa, not so much ,but he has taught me things I can't learn in school such as work ethic, operating heavy equipment safely and accepting extremely constructive criticism. I have competed in UIL since second grade and received many medals in various events (chess, writing, math and science). I am a member of the FFA, NJHS and now National Honor Society , and athletics (since 7th). It is important to me to make my school proud and contribute in any way that I can. I was honored in 9th and in 10th grade when my principal , Mr. Edwards, asked me to raise the flag each morning. In 10th grade I made regionals in cross country and was able to go to xc meet in Corpus Christi. I showed a table I made at the Bell County Youth Fair and placed 4th. Later in my 10th grade year, I competed in science UIL, placed 4th and was able to compete at regionals in La Vernia. In 11th grade, I began taking college courses at Temple College, I joined the tunnel crew , FCCLA and was invited to join the National Honor Society. During spring break of my junior year I got to take my first flying lesson. The summer of 2023, I was selected to attend Texas Boys State and had an amazing time, I even won my election. I feel like I have accomplished a lot in my life but look forward to new challenges. I figure, if I can climb a mountain, I can do anything if I work hard.

Cross Country and Track help me to stay in shape. In 10th grade, I placed 8th in district, which allowed me to compete in regionals in Corpus Christi. In 11th, I missed regionals by 1 second but still went to corpus to cheer on the girl's team since they made it.
Trip to UK 2020
Volunteered to be on the tunnel crew 2022-23 school year. We set up and take down the tunnel before and after games.
